Equality and under-representation

The Union’s equality structures closely mirror those of the TUC and reflect the diversity of both our membership and the UK workforce as a whole.

The five main strands of the NASUWT’s equality groups are members who are:

  • Black;
  • Disabled;
  • Lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex (LGBTI);
  • Women; and
  • Young.

These are the groups which are under-represented as activists within the lay structure of the Union.
